Isn’t life more complicated than it used to be? Work schedules are more complex; people are multi-tasking between their jobs and personal lives and it seems there’s hardly even time to eat.
It’s not just that there are more demands on your time – there are just more demands. Period. All of these demands must fit somewhere into your time as a mental health or allied health provider.
Before you let your life become even more overwhelming, make it a point to sit down in a quiet corner and think for a minute. Is your schedule well planned? Are you organized enough?
3 Ways to Simplify Your Life:
- Plan your work: Make lists. Lists are an important way of getting all the jumble out of your mind. On paper, everything becomes clearer and more organized, your days and weeks can be arranged ahead of time with more focus when you plan your work and work your plan.
- Focus on Positivity: There are things to get anxious about in life. Getting a key client the help he needs is an important task. Making sure the cat’s water dish is at the same level every day is not a big deal. One task shouldn’t carry the same weight of importance as the other. In other words, don’t sweat the small stuff.
- Treat Yourself: When you give back to others, remember to also give back to you. Treat yourself once a week to something that makes you happy, turn your phone off for a few hours and relish in the freedom of being able to say “no.” In an indirect way, you give back to others when you give to yourself.
Remember all of these things to simplify your life and live your life to the fullest potential everyday.
